Stamping Sundays- Mother's Day Project and Scrapping Sand

Happy Mother's Day!

Today's video shows a Flower Pot card, which I was inspired to create from a great gal named Dawn Griffith. Dawn does a lot of stamping videos and her youtube.com channel can be found :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4N1xCL6SZU as it turns out, Dawn was inspired to make hers from Stephanie Luman, and Stephanie has a written tutorial on her blog. Check it out :

Thanks to both ladies for the inspiration!

The main project I show is an acrylic album in the shape of a lighthouse, I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. I purchased the album from my favorite scrapbooking store The Scrapbook Cafe located in Tuckerton, NJ. Angela Weimer is the very talented owner of the store and she was nice enough to share her recipe for Scrapping Sand. Please check out her store website: www.scrapbookcafenj.com

To make Scrapping Sand you need:

A plastic disposable cup
a popsicle stick
UTEE
Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls
Glossy Accents glue

Pour the amount of sand you want into a cup by using the UTEE as your "sand". Just pour it in dry, you will not be heating it. Add the amount of Gold Perfect Pearls to color the UTEE to the color you want. Once colored add enough Glossy Accents Glue, a little at a time, to have the mixture conform to a wet sand consistency. The tip Angela gave me was to make it feel like when you step in wet sand and leave an impression. Then apply to your project by scraping it on with the popsicle stick. Mold it to the form you want, and allow to dry very thoroughly. I let mine dry overnight. It is now solid as concrete.

Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Wishing you a creative week!

  1. There is a medium out there which just brushes on to look like sand, Laurel...I will have to go see what it is and let you know.

I also have real sand in a variety of colours. You girls can't get that?
